Troopers seize illegal Rx pills, cash during northeast OH traffic stop

GEAUGA COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A northeast Ohio man is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers found various prescription pills and cash during a traffic stop Monday night.

Troopers stopped a 1997 Ford Thunderbird with Ohio registration for a marked lanes violation on Chardon Windsor Road in Claridon Township at 7:49 p.m. Criminal indicators were observed and a Geauga County Sheriff's Office drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle.

A probable cause search revealed eight Vyvanse pills, eight Hydrocodone pills, 51 Methadone pills, 71 Clonazepam pills and 26 Hydrochloride pills in a pill bottle. Troopers also found a small amount of marijuana, a glass smoking pipe and $2,310 in cash. The illegal prescription pills have an estimated street value of nearly $1,000.

The driver, Andrew Burzanko, 46, of Chardon, was charged with possession of a Schedule II substance, a third-degree felony, along with possession of a Schedule III substance, a fifth-degree felony.
