EWA BEACH, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu Police are looking for the three men who assaulted John Melvin Howard early Sunday morning on Komana Street in Ewa Beach.

Neighbors had called 911 first to report Howard was drunk and yelling in the street.

A second call minutes later was made reporting that he was hitting parked cars.

In the third, the caller said Howard was being assaulted.

Witnesses reported that three men in a dark sedan stopped as they passed Howard and got out.  One of the men kicked Howard in the chest, causing him to fall backwards and hit his head.

He suffered a brain injury and later died at the hospital.

A neighbor said one of the suspects stood over Howard and took a cell phone picture of him as he lay in the street.

The victim's cousin says she ran down the street after the men but wasn't able to get a better description of the car other than a dark sedan.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300, or *CRIME on your cellular phone.
