CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

They say time will help heal, but in the 12 months since the murder of Cleveland Clinic nurse Aliza Sherman time has made the days grow even longer for loved ones.

The person who viciously took her life is still walking the streets. That's troubling for Aliza's daughter Jennifer.

"It's been exhausting and very difficult and challenging. The most horrific nightmare I could have ever imagined," says Jennifer Sherman.

Aliza Sherman was stabbed 11 times after leaving her attorney's office in March of 2013.

She was in the midst of a long drawn out messy divorce that was finally set to go to
trial.

One year later there are still no suspects, still no arrests.

Sherman's best friend Jan Lash continues the mission to get "Justice for Aliza."

"It's devastating to think that a whole year has gone by and the monster who killed her is still out there," says Jan Lash.

March 24th, on the anniversary of Aliza's murder, family and friends will hold a ceremony in the same spot her life was taken.

The hope is that the event will educate others and remember their loved one.

"We're hoping that by empowering women with safety tips self defense tools we're going to make a difference in their lives," says Jennifer Sherman.

Since her mother's murder Jennifer's gotten married.

She says she wishes her mom was there on her special day.

In her grief Jennifer says her mom makes her smile every time she sees a ladybug. A sign she says her mom is watching over her.

A sign that encourages her to never give up.

"Anything beyond one moment without justice is too long for us," says Jennifer Sherman.

March 24 marks the one year anniversary of Aliza's Sherman's murder. Justice for Aliza will hold a ceremony downtown at the corner of East 12th Street and Hamilton Avenue at 5 p.m.
