Lanes of Waialae Avenue reopened after crews repair waterline leak

 

Update 7:40 a.m.:

All eastbound lanes of Waialae Avenue near Liliuokalani Elementary School have been reopened as Board of Water Supply crews have completed repairs to the damaged waterline.

Water service was restored to the 18 affected customers at approximately 5 a.m., according to BWS.

Update 7:10 a.m.:

One eastbound lane of Waialae Avenue near the Wilhemina Rise intersection has been reopened, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Original story:

Honolulu police have closed two eastbound lanes of Waialae Avenue near the Wilhelmina Rise intersection after an area contractor hit a service waterline at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Board of Water Supply crews are currently on scene repairing a leak to the waterline connected to a 12-inch main. Approximately 18 customers are without water, according to BWS.

Work is expected to continue throughout the morning.
