City begins repaving Meheula Parkway in Mililani

MILILANI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The city will begin road work on a main Mililani street starting Monday as part of its larger road repaving project. Road work will take place on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. until the end of the year.

The city's contractor Grace Pacific will repave Meheula Parkway and Anania Drive, a total of 31 lane miles at a cost of more than $13 million.

The Meheula repaving project is part of Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell's efforts of repaving 300 lane miles per year for five years. The goal would be to repave all 1,500 lane miles of city roads deemed unsatisfactory when he took office in 2013.

One part of Meheula Parkway, from Ainamakua Drive to Koolani Drive, will not be repaved as it was already paved in 2007 and remains in good condition, according to the city.

Tree root mitigation, curb and gutter work were completed earlier this year.
