Power restored to 1,000 HECO customers around Oahu

According to a Hawaiian Electric Company representative, power was restored to homes in the Manoa and Hawaii Kai areas shortly before noon on Sunday. 

Officials restored the power in the Manoa area around 10:55 a.m. Sunday. 

In the Hawaii Kai area, power was restored just before noon. 

According to HECO, the cause of the power outage is still under investigation. Wind has not yet been a determined factor.

Hawaiian Electric Company officials are investigation the cause of numerous power outages around the island on Sunday, affecting 1,000 HECO customers. 

Officials say about 400 Hawaii Kai customers have been without power since about 11 a.m. HECO officials are on scene working on restoring the power. The exact cause is still being investigated. 

In the Manoa Road area about 600 customers have also been without power since 10:43 a.m. Crews are still working on restoring the power. 

Officials say all power has been restored in the Nuuanu and Paoa areas, which went out earlier Sunday morning. 

HECO officials are urging the public to inform them of any outages that may occur by calling their toll free trouble line. 

HECO is also communicating with the public through their facebook and twitter accounts, using #OahuOutage.
