Parts of Kailua Beach to close for sand replenishment project
KAILUA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Erosion has prompted city officials to close portions of Kailua Beach Park for two weeks to replenish sand in those areas.
The Department of Parks and Recreation will move sand -- previously dredged to prevent flooding from the mouth of Kaelepulu Stream -- to Kailua Beach starting Monday through Friday. They will reopen the areas during the weekend and continue working on March 17 through March 21.
The boat ramp, boat ramp parking lot and the parking area adjacent to the concession stand comfort station will be closed for the project.
