KAPALUA, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - [Update 1:31 p.m.]
Slack tides have taken the turbid brown water out to sea, so most of Honokahua Bay is not impacted by the brown water discharge

A Brown Water Advisory is being issued for Honokahua Bay due to heavy rains last night.
The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals, and associated flood debris.
Turbid water runoff has been known to attract sharks due to possible dead animals being washed into the ocean. If coastal waters are brown, stay out.
