Browns release former UH receiver Davone Bess

CLEVELAND, Ohio (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Cleveland Browns have released former University of Hawaii wide receiver Davone Bess, the team announced on its Twitter account Wednesday morning.

Bess, who played previously in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins, experienced a turbulent first season with Cleveland, particularly after posting a photograph of himself smoking what appeared to be marijuana on his Instagram account in January.

The next day, Bess was arrested and charged with assault on an officer, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer after an incident at the Fort Lauderdale airport, and the day after that, he posted a nude photo of himself to Instagram.

The Associated Press says that Bess is owed a guaranteed $3.067 million dollar salary for 2014.

The wideout will be able to sign with another team as a free agent once he clears waivers.
