On January 27, 2013, Robbie
Bal and his wife were driving to Lahaina. From the main road they noticed black
smoke coming from a home in Wailuku Heights. Robbie immediately called 9-1-1
and drove over to check on the house.
When he got there he
noticed a woman still inside and ran in to pull Cecilia Davis to safety. He
then grabbed a garden hose and controlled the fire for about 15-20 minutes
until the firefighters arrived.
"More like instinct. After I saw that color smoke I knew something
was wrong. I just stopped, smelled the
smoke, ran in the house first and I told her c'mon but she's so old and
everything. I had to help her up, get
her out first. I thought my reward was
getting, saving her house and getting her safe.
And it's alright with that reward too." recalls Robbie Bal.
Well you know what Robbie, thanks to you Mrs. Davis
is safe and her house sustained minimal damage.
So you've got another
reward, being named the American Red Cross of Hawaii's "Lifesaver Hero."
