HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The state wants your help to keep an invasive pest from spreading across Oahu.  The Coconut rhinoceros beetle can greatly damage coconut trees and other palms. It was first discovered just before Christmas at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

A group of students from the University of Hawaii, known as the beetle busters is organizing a mission to track down the insect.

They have created a website and a smartphone app that allows the public to submit photos of coconut trees they suspect may be damaged by beetles.
