An elderly woman has died after she was struck by a bus Tuesday in Waikiki.
The accident happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Kalia Road near the Hilton Hawaiian Village. According to emergency responders, the 73-year-old victim was not in a marked crosswalk when she was struck. She was initially taken to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition with severe head injuries. Police say she died a short time later.
Her identity has not yet been released. An investigation into what caused the accident is underway. Speed, alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in this crash.
