HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A strong earthquake shook an area near the Ryuku Islands but was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii.
The quake was measured at a magnitude 6.6, according to preliminary reports from the U.S. Geological Survey.
The earthquake happened shortly after 10 a.m. HST. near the Ryuku Islands in Japan.
