They did it again.
We had another spectacular showing at the Sochi winter Olympics which concluded Sunday night with the closing ceremonies.
There were many questions surrounding whether Russia could pull off such a huge event, whether the locale was appropriate and even if the weather would be chilly enough for a winter event.
The biggest issue was whether security was strong enough to ward off potential attacks.
With nearby Kiev up in flames during the Ukraine protest movement, it was a legitimate question.
The games went off without a major hitch and the drama of the Olympics continued night after night.
There were so many exciting moments. Some that come to mind were Ted Liggety's slalom runs and Kaitlyn Farrington's half-pipe snowboarding magic.
There were disappointments as well, notably Jeremy Abbott's speedskating and Shaun White's half-pipe run which denied him his third OlympicW gold medal.
Overall, it was a tremendous success for all the participating countries, the athletes and the viewers back at home who tuned in by the tens of millions each night.
And as always, it renewed pride in America -- the good old USA, and that's always a good thing!
