Paula Deen Ventures announced Wednesdayplans for a new restaurant called Paula Deen's Family Kitchen to be built inPigeon Forge, TN.
Pigeon Forge is a vacationdestination near the Dollywood theme park and the Great Smoky MountainsNational Park.
The plans call for a 20,000square foot restaurant and retail shop and an annual operation budget of nearly$20 million, according to a company news release. The restaurant is scheduledto open at the end of the summer.
Some components of The Island inPigeon Forge opened in 2013.
"This restaurant and retailexpansion is a "sweet spot" for Paula Deen Ventures," said Paula Deen VenturesCEO Steven Nanula, in a statement. "When we met the team at ‘The Islandin Pigeon Forge,' we found an entrepreneurial spirit that was very similar tothe passion and drive that fueled the growth of Paula Deen's restaurant TheLady & Sons which celebrates the beginning of its business with this year's25th anniversary." Nanula said.
