(KING/NBC) – An Ice Age tusk was been found 30 feet below a housing development in Seattle Tuesday morning.
Construction crews preparing to lay concrete made the discovery on land at the corner of Mercer Street and Pontius Avenue.
Paleontologists from the Burke Museum were called by the contractor, and indicated confidence it "represents a tusk from an Ice Age mammoth."
The tusk was found on private property, so it will be up to the landowner to decide what to do with it.
