MAKAWAO, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Maui family is desperate for answers after a 5-month pregnant woman went missing Sunday night -- possibly somewhere along the road to Hana.
The 27-year-old woman's mother doesn't know if it was an accident or foul play, but she's hoping someone may have information.
Family members say they last saw 27-year-old Carly Joann Scott two days ago at her sister's home in Haiku.
"She was there. She was happy. Police have asked me repeatedly if there was anything wrong. She was fine," said Kimberly Scott.
Family calls her Charli. They say she usually talks to her little sister every day, but no one has heard from her since Sunday.
"She's 27-years-old and she's extremely responsible. She works two jobs. She's never, never not there. She's missed two days of work. I sent her a text saying, 'If you don't call back, I'm going to call the cops,' and still nothing," described Carly's mother.
Scott says she checked her daughter's home yesterday in Makawao, but no one was there.
"I can't find anything. I can't find her and this will be the third night she's missing. Of course, I've got every worse nightmare running through my head," Scott said.
Carly's mother says her cell phone is still on and the last place it pinged from was along the Hana Highway near mile marker 20 Keanae.
According to Carly's sisters, she may have gone out there to help her estranged ex-boyfriend -- who is the father of her baby.
"He is the one who called her on Sunday night after she got home and asked her to come out and get him because he supposedly got his car stuck out there. He is the last person to have seen her," said Carly's mother.
She was last seen in her vehicle, a 1997 silver Toyota 4Runner with Hawai'i plates MDE889. Family says it has an LED light skull in the grill.
"These are cliffs. I don't know what to do, but to tie ropes to myself and go over the edge and start looking because its such dense foliage. She could have gone over and it could have swallowed her car back up again," described Scott.
Carly is believed to be with her dog Nala, a pit bull mix.
Family members tell Hawaii News Now they spent the day scouring Hana Highway for Carly, but there were no signs of her.
They're hoping to get a helicopter up first thing Wednesday to assist them and they're organizing a second search party.
"I just want to find her. She's pregnant. If she went off one of these ledges. I mean I don't know... her dog hasn't been found," Scott said.
Anyone with information about Carly Joann Scott's whereabouts is asked to call Maui Police immediately.
Carly Joann Scott has red shoulder length hair, green eyes, weighing 160 pounds, and stands 5-feet-10-inches tall.
Anyone with information on Scott's whereabouts should contact Detective Wendell Loo at (808) 270-6516 during business hours or (808) 268-2763 after hours.
