(Hawaii News Now) - The Hawaii Carpenters Drywall Training Fund will be accepting applications Feb.10-14 for its drywall apprenticeship program, which gives participants the skills, training and work experience they need for a rewarding career in the building industry.
"With construction activity on the rise, demand is growing for skilled workers," noted John White, Executive Director of The Pacific Resource Partnership.
"There are a lot of construction projects that will be starting in the next year or two so it's critical that we have a workforce that's ready."
Those selected for the paid apprenticeship program – which is a combination of classroom hours and on-the-job training – will learn essential drywall finishing skills while working alongside seasoned professionals. In addition to competitive wages, apprentices receive health and retirement benefits.
"Apprentices who complete the training program will have a solid foundation on which to build a career that can provide for every stage of their lives," added Glen Kaneshige, President of Nordic PCL Construction, Inc. "Ideal candidates should have a good work ethic and a great attitude." The program takes about four years to complete.
Interested candidates can apply for the apprenticeship program in person Feb. 10-14 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at:
