Flood Watch: Heavy rain and possible thunderstorms in forecast

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flash flood watch for Oahu, Kauai, Maui, Molokai and Lanai between 6 p.m. Monday and 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Forecasters say a low northwest of the state is expected to trigger widespread rain across the smaller islands with periods of heavy rain and even isolated thunderstorms Monday night through Tuesday afternoon and possibly Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service says a flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that could lead to flash flooding and advises residents that it may not have to be raining heavily where they are for flash flooding to occur.
