HILO, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - Akaka Falls State Park was reopened Sunday after authorities say they may have found the body of a man who had been missing since Friday.
According to Hilo police, scuba divers found the body at the bottom of a pond downstream of Akaka Falls. around 11:50 a.m. Sunday.
The park had been closed while the Hawaii Police Department searched for 53-year-old Jeffrey Reyes. Officials said he was last seen at the park at 8:45 a.m.
Hilo Police are waiting for positive identification of the body. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
