Maui PD searched the car of 'person of interest' in missing woman case

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui Police have searched the car belonging to Bernard Brown, the ex-boyfriend of Moreira 'Mo' Monsalve.  Monsalve has been missing since January 12th.  She was with Brown that night.

Sources tell me Brown's car was repossessed earlier this week and the bank gave Maui PD permission to search it for any evidence in the case.

It's unclear what, if anything, was found in his car.

Brown is a 'person of interest' not only because he was the last person to see Monsalve, but also because he refused to do a polygraph.

Two days after the mother-of-three went missing, government workers on the trails at the Poli Poli Recreation Area reportedly saw Brown at the park.  A few days later, MPD, using K-9s searched the same areas.

Brown has called HNN in the past to say he had nothing to do with Monsalve's disappearance.  He said that he was worried about her too.

Monsalve's family maintains a Facebook page with details on the search.
