PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A money laundering suspect stopped at the Portland International Airport led to police seizing hundreds of pounds of marijuana, hundreds of thousands of dollars and three tickets to Sunday's Super Bowl.
Investigators with the Portland Police Bureau's Drugs and Vice Division contacted Kao Choy Saechao, 39, at the airport at 10 p.m. Friday. Police said he had $49,000 cash in his luggage.
Police then served a search warrant at his home on the 8400 block of Southeast 134th Drive. Officers said they found 12 pounds of processed marijuana, four rifles, two handguns, a small amount of steroids and another $2,900 in cash.
Further investigation led to the home of Matthew Parker, 42, on the 3800 block of Northeast View Place in Gresham.
As officers waited for the search warrant, they said two men exited Parker's home with a number of large trash bags they placed in the back of a 2002 Cadillac Escalade parked in the driveway.
One of the men, Edwin Olson, 43, was detained at the scene. The other man ran away.
A search warrant was served and police said the trash bags contained 212 pounds of processed marijuana, as well as three Super Bowl XLVIII tickets. The Escalade was seized by police, as was a 2002 Hummer H2 on the property.
Inside Parker's home, police said they seized more than $300,000 in cash, $3,850 Euros and an 80-inch television. At a storage locker connected to the investigation, a large amount of marijuana growing equipment was discovered, along with a 47-inch television.
Investigators then learned Parker had another storage locker in Florida. Law enforcement there served a warrant on the locker and recovered 45 pounds of processed marijuana.
Another location linked to the investigation in the 1200 block of Northeast 126th Avenue turned up a marijuana growing site with 84 mature plants and various pieces of growing equipment.
Portland officers also seized $25,000 from various bank accounts belonging to Parker.
Parker has not been caught by police. Investigators said the man who ran away from the Gresham home was Parker's 19-year-old son Dreyson. Dreyson Parker also remains on the loose and is wanted by police.
Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to contact Officer Chris Devin at 503-823-0246 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Saechao was booked in the Multnomah County Jail on charges of delivery and possession of marijuana and money laundering.
Olson is charged with delivery and possession of marijuana.
