Flash flood watch issued for Big Island

HILO, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flash flood watch for the Big Island until 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

  • A strong upper-level disturbance is moving over the island.
  • While the bulk of the heavy rain is expected to fall over windward slopes, locally heavy showers and thunderstorms may also affect leeward and interior areas in the morning.
