Overnight road work shifts H-1 lane closures for rehab project

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Late night and early morning drivers will see lane closure changes on the H-1 freeway between Likelike Highway and Ward Avenue as part of the H-1 Freeway Rehabilitation Project, the state Department of Transportation says.

Two H-1 lanes will be closed in each direction, leaving one eastbound and one westbound lane open for use. Road work will take place from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. from Sunday nights through Friday mornings.

Crews will work in the median and right shoulders in varying segments. The remaining open lanes will be shifted using cones in a snaking pattern around the work areas.

Cones should be removed by 4:30 a.m. daily, but these nightly lane shifts will continue for several months, according to HDOT.
