Hanauma Bay re-opened at 7:00am today (Sunday) after lifeguards did a scan of the shoreline and water and only a few box jellyfish were counted.

Hanauma Bay will remain closed until waters are re-assessed Sunday morning.

Officials say more than 50 jellyfish were spotted on the beach, and 30 people got stung.

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve has been closed due to reports of excessive jellyfish in the area.

Ocean officials closed the beach this morning shortly after 9 a.m. after jellyfish sightings and stings were reported.

Beach goers are instructed to find an alternate area for ocean recreation activities.
