Local company invites Justin Bieber to fundraising event

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Just after his drunk driving arrest, a local company is reaching out to pop star Justin Bieber to attend a charity fundraising event.

Wahiawa resident Brandon Wegner is the founder of the Drunk Driving Prevention Program (DDPP).

He's reached out to Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, inviting the pop star to attend a charity fundraiser that aims to take his designated driver program national.

"We hoped that this situation would make him change his life and try and help do something that helps save lives instead of risking people's lives," Wegner said.

Every Friday and Saturday night, DDPP volunteers are on standby offering a free designated driver service that brings you and your car home if you've had too much to drink.

"The program's available anywhere on Oahu...so if you're on the North Shore or Waikiki -- wherever, and if you're in trouble, we'll come help you out."

The program requires you to sign up ahead of time before you use it. You can visit their website for more details here

And as for the charity invite, there has been no response yet from Bieber or his management.
