HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Project Dana, pronounced "donna," is a Buddhist-inspired nonprofit with hundreds of volunteers in Hawaii looking out for our elders. The word "dana" means "selfless giving." The Honolulu Police Community Foundation has approved a grant to Project Dana to set up seniors with emergency monitors that allow them to get help if they fall or have another emergency. Former Honolulu Police Chief Lee Donohue is the president of the foundation, and he spoke to Howard Dicus along with Cullen Hayashida, the president of Kupuna Monitoring Systems Inc.
