Lightning, high winds and downed tree knock power out to parts of Oahu

LAIE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Update 8:30 a.m.:

Hawaiian Electric crews have restored power to customers in Enchanted Lake. Power should now be available to all remaining customers affected by the outages.

Update 7:00 a.m.:

Hawaiian Electric crews have completed repairs and restored power to affected customers in Laie and Kaneohe.

Hawaiian Electric Co. is responding to power outages in parts of Kaneohe, Kailua and Laie.

HECO said lightning may have caused a power outage reported shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday. Approximately 300 customers have been affected.

HECO also responded to an outage on Makalani Street in Kaneohe where a large tree fell and knocked down power lines to about 1,000 customers shortly after 11 p.m. By 12:30 a.m., crews had restored power to most customers, but 150 still do not have power, HECO said.

An estimated 150 customers still do not have power in Enchanted Lake in Kailua, where the outage -- reported before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday -- initially left 1,100 customers without power. HECO said the outage was caused by high winds in the area.
