WAILUKU, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui fire crews rushed to Iao Valley for a male hiker who apparently fell more than 40 feet off the trail.
Officials say it happened shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday.
The 57-year-old visitor from San Diego managed to crawl back up about 15 feet before realizing he was in trouble.
Two other visitors hiking heard the man yelling for help. Crews then arrived and managed to get him to a safe location.
The man suffered minor cuts to his face and pain to his ribs. The visitor drove himself to the Maui Memorial Medical Center.
