BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - The white tiger that was the star attraction at the Big Island's Panaewa Rainforest Zoo has died.

Zookeepers say they euthanized the 15-year-old, named Namaste, Thursday morning because he had multiple health problems.  They say his quality of life had deteriorated rapidly in recent months.

Namaste was buried in his enclosure, and the spot will be marked with a monument.

The zoo will now begin searching for a replacement.
