HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Davone Bess missed the final two games of the regular season due to 'personal reasons' and now there's a chance he may be out for a lot longer at the start of next year.

The former Hawaii standout is under scrutiny with his team and the NFL after tweeting a picture Thursday of what appears to be a bag of marijuana on top of a cell phone next to a lit joint.

The picture has since been removed from his account and a Browns spokesman said the team is 'looking further into the situation and will deal with it internally.'

This isn't the first time Bess has come under fire for his social media posts.  Last month, a photo of him lighting a joint or cigar outside of his house also created a stir online.

This past season was his first in Cleveland and he experienced career-lows in catches and yards.

After not showing up for practice in late December, the team placed him on the Reserve-Non-Football list.

At this time, it's unknown how or if Bess will be disciplined.

The NFL hasn't punished a player over a tweet, but he could be fined or suspended if he tests positive for a banned substance.
