WASHINGTON, Jan. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- J. D. Ludwig, trained as a combat medic and having served as assistant battalion surgeon in the Maryland National Guard, has written a new novel that details the possible consequences of another American Civil War. Ludwig, a leading figure in the commercial real estate industry and a trustee emeritus for a Washington D.C. graduate school that teaches statecraft, diplomacy, and national security, says that politicians and their supporters should understand that when political arguments turn into pitched military battles, the resulting wounds to soldiers, civilians, and the entire nation could be severe and long lasting.
In his debut novel Overreach: Blood of Patriots, Ludwig takes the anger, fear, and political division evident in today's headlines and then "war-games" what could result if the bitter rhetoric escalated to armed conflict. Ludwig comments, "At first, I was reluctant to consider what I've explored in this book, but it seemed to me far better to fight this war in a fictional world-and hope that the reader can grasp the reality of bullets and bloodshed we could be facing in the very near future." The result, according to one reviewer, is "a gripping tale of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism that explores the unthinkable."
The event will begin with a buffet lunch and open bar reception at 1:00pm in the First Amendment Lounge, followed by comments by Mr. Ludwig – and an opportunity for reporters to meet Mr. Ludwig in an informal setting. This is not a ticketed event but RSVPs would be appreciated at email@example.com.
J. D. Ludwig served in the United States Army from 1976 to 1979, receiving combat medic training at Ft. Sam Houston in Texas. After leaving active duty, J. D. served as assistant battalion surgeon in the Maryland Army National Guard. He and his wife, Sally, an Army nurse who retired as a lieutenant colonel, live in suburban Maryland where J. D. has been a leader in the commercial real estate industry for more than thirty years.
