Hawaii loses by one to Cal State Northridge, remains winless in Big West

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warriors are coming home winless after its first Big West road trip of the season.

Down by one, Christian Standhardinger missed a game-winning shot as Cal State Northridge hung on to defeat Hawaii, 79-78, Saturday night at the Matadome.

The Matadors went into the break up 40-39 and extended the lead with a 13-2 run midway through the second half.

With under nine minutes remaining, CSN was up 70-57, but Hawaii closed the deficit to one behind a 3-pointer from Keith Shamburger.

With the loss, UH (11-5, 0-2 Big West) suffers its second-straight defeat and still has yet to win a conference game.

Hawaii is back in action next Saturday and will host UC-Riverside.
