Maui house fire displaces six

KAHULUI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Six adults were displaced from their home on Maui after a fire broke out at around 8:45 p.m. Friday.

Maui Fire officials say it happened on Kailana Street in Kahului.

Authorities say the two-story house was 25% involved on the second floor when crews arrived. It reportedly took crews approximately 45 minutes to extinguish the fire. The homeowner says a resident was sleeping in the home when the fire started. His wife reportedly was able to wake him up and escape the house without injury.

The residents will be staying with relatives.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
