Longtime Radio Broadcaster Kimo Akane Dead at 58

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kimo Akane, who worked in Hawaii radio for most of the last 40 years died Monday at age 58. Akane worked both on-air and behind the scenes as a Program Director and consultant. Akane also wrote a popular column in Midweek called Kimo's Vegas.

Facebook and other social media quickly filled with stories of Akane's positive impact on the industry and on the careers of many in the broadcast industry.

Members of the Sunrise program took some time to reflect on Akane's life and career during the show Tuesday morning.
