HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has replaced the high surf warning with a High Surf Advisory for the north and west shores of Kauai, Niihau, Oahu and Molokai and the north-facing shores of Maui.
The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m.
Forecasters said surf for north-facing shores will be 14 to 18 feet, decreasing to 10 to 14 feet tonight. For west shores, surf could reach 8 to 12 feet today, decreasing to 6 to 10 feet tonight.
Surf is expected to gradually decline through Monday.
Beachgoers can expect strong breaking waves and shore breaks, along with strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous. Heed all advice from ocean safety officials and use caution.
