Female visitor injured while hiking on Kauai

HANALEI, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A hiker needed to be airlifted from Kalalau Saturday after officials say she injured her knee.

It happened shortly before 5 p.m. Kaua'i police dispatch 911 was contacted by the U.S. Coast Guard who was alerted to the situation by a tour boat operated by Blue Dolphin Charters.

Air 1 with Rescue 3 aboard transported the 30-year old woman and her husband from Kalalau Beach to a landing zone at Kē'ē Beach. The couple transported themselves to Wilcox Memorial Hospital for treatment.
