BATON ROUGE, LA (RNN) – The LSU Tigers defeated the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in a close game, winning 61-54 at home on Saturday.

The Tigers (6-2) led the Warhawks (3-2) early on and led by six points to end the first half with the help of an 12-4 run aided by two Andre Stringer 3-pointers.

LSU continued to pull away, and ULM trailed by as many as 18 points late in the second half. But, with 4:32 left in regulation, the Warhawks went on an 11-0 run to attempt a rally that was too late.

Forward Jordan Mickey was the Tigers' leading scorer with 25 points and nine rebounds, going seven-of-nine from the free throw line and nine-of-13 from field goal range. Stringer scored 10 points and was two-of-six from long distance.

The Tigers as a team shot 52 percent from the foul line, but shot poorly from long distance, going five-of-18 from 3-point range.

LSU's next game will be on the road against the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
