HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
The National Weather Service has extended a Flood Advisory for Oahu until 3 a.m.
Forecasters said at 11:50 p.m., radar showed persistent moderate to heavy showers continuing over the Koolau slopes, mainly upslope of communities from Hauula to Kahaluu. In addition, gages on the Waikane and Kahana streams reported elevated levels from the persistent rainfall.
Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Punaluu, Kaaawa, Kahaluu and Waiahole.
Persons in the advisory area should stay away from streams, drainage ditches and other low-lying areas. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility, ponding and poor braking.
The advisory may be extended if heavy rainfall persists.
