NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Clarksville man is recovering from injuries sustained in a deadly hit-and-run wreck on Wednesday night.

Tyjuan Northington was just trying to back out of a Clarksville driveway.

"Her head smacked my jaw, the seat belt tugged me, broke my ribs, I don't know. I can't tell you what happened. I don't know what happened," said Northington.

Now he's in a Vanderbilt hospital bed, with his mother by his side.

"I've got cracked ribs, I got a bruise on my leg. I have a fractured jaw. I have bleeding in my brain," said Northington.

"It's rough to see him lying there, but it's good to see him lying there," said Donna Blake, Northington's mother.

Danielle Hutchinson, the 19-year-old friend of Northington, wasn't as lucky.

The Austin Peay freshman was sitting in the passenger seat when she took a direct blow from the SUV that hit them.

"It's just sad. She was real nice, one of them people that you would be lucky to come across in your lifetime," said Northington.

Investigators said the SUV was stolen in the Lafayette Road area earlier that day. The two people in it got out after the crash, then took off running.

"They took somebody's daughter, somebody's sister, somebody's loved one. They left two others injured and they didn't care," said Blake.

Blake is now speaking out on behalf of several mothers and begging those responsible to turn around and do the right thing.

"Whoever did this, whoever, wherever you are, I know you're somebody's child. I'm somebody's mother. This is my child that's laying here in this bed that could have not been in this bed. Please come forward, please, that's all I ask," said Blake.

The two people that were in the Explorer are believed to be in their teens or early 20s.

They were last seen running south on Kelsey Drive in Clarksville.

Police have no new updates or leads at this point.
