Shot fired during Kalihi robbery, suspect escapes

KALIHI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Police are looking for the man who robbed a Kalihi arcade at gunpoint Tuesday.

The man was wearing a ski mask when he walked into the Hawaiiana Arcade and Café on Bannister Street around noon.

He fired one shot with a handgun, leaving a bullet hole outside the building. Neighbors say they heard the shot, but did not realize what was going on.

"I thought it was a firework. It was somebody setting off fireworks," said witness Gilrod Ebinger.

The robber escaped in a green van. No one was hurt.
