HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police have closed Waialae Ave in both directions between Wilhelmina Rise and 13th Ave due to a traffic accident.
Police say a car crashed into a utilty pole and power is out in the area. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Tow truck is heading to the scene.
Hawaiian Electric has determined approximately 20 customers are currently without power as a result of this motor vehicle accident.
Preliminary estimates indicate it will take approximately 12 hours to replace the damaged utility pole.
Unfortunately, customers impacted by the outage will remain without power until repairs are complete. For the safety of the public and work crews, one town-bound lane of traffic will remain closed while repairs are being made.
