The man who admitted to killing his grandmother was sentenced Tuesday afternoon.

Dale Palmer, Jr. was sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole for 25 years.

The 21-year old was convicted of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence.

On June 22, Palmer attacked and killed Jualene Winston in her Cleveland Heights home.

Palmer struck the 55-year-old victim in the head with a hammer and then suffocated her while she lay on the floor.

Palmer then fled the Woodridge Road home and was arrested by police a short time later. After being arrested, Palmer confessed to beating, suffocating, and killing his grandmother.

Palmer also got three years for aggravated robbery and another two for tampering with evidence. The sentences will run consecutively. He'll serve at least 30 years before he's even eligible for parole.
