Lihue man medevaced to Queens following traffic accident

LIHUE, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 24-year-old Lihu'e man was medevaced to Queens Medical Center last night after sustaining head injuries in a traffic accident near Fish Express in Lihue. He was transferred out of the intensive care unit this morning as his condition has improved.

The Lihue man was a passenger in a black Nissan pickup truck that was traveling north on KuhioHighway at approximately 11 p.m. last night when he reportedly fell out of the truck and sustained head injuries.

The man was taken to Wilcox Hospital by the female driver, 21, of Lihu. From there, he was transported by air ambulance to Queens.

The driver did not sustain any injuries.

Traffic in the area was not affected by the accident.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
