HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The turkey dash is on. But even before those birds are stuffed, some are shopping for Christmas trees and scouting for cheap televisions.

We check out the holiday rush at the Dillingham Foodland, where we found Joan Ing picking up turkey and enough potatoes for the whole family. She's cooking for 22.

Phillip Roberts is picking up extras. He gives out 50 turkeys every Thanksgiving.

In his words, "This is a special day of the year and we should share our thanks with those who are unfortunate."

Some motivated bargain hunters will forgo the food and fast forward to the holiday shopping season. Lines started forming at Best Buy in Aiea on Monday.

We found one person already waiting today at the store's Iwilei location.

Johnny Chan says he doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving and the deals on tablets and t.v.s are worth the wait.

Meanwhile, sales of Christmas trees are early out the gates.

"I wanted to get it before thanksgiving" explained Rick Shibasaki. "Usually I get a tree the day after Thanksgiving, but this year Thanksgiving is late, so I wanted to get it early."

Veteran Richard Tajiri was surprised to get so many calls from eager customers wanting to pick up their trees earlier than ever.

They even tracked down the location of his new lot at the Old Varsity.

Tajiri said he's never opened this early before. "We didn't expect to even open, but it was a last minute decision because of the calls and emails so we said okay let's open couple of days before. People are coming like crazy I don't know."

For him, skipping straight from Thanksgiving to Christmas is business as usual.

He jokes, "What's Thanksgiving? No, we are working."

One thing's for sure. Whether they're shopping for trees, turkeys or waiting in line for bargains, everyone agrees, there are definitely blurred lines this holiday season.
