HPD hiring radio dispatchers

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Police Department is looking to hire people with excellent communication skills. The department wants to fill positions for police radio dispatchers.

This is not for 911 emergency response operations. It is mainly an introductory position for those interested in pursuing a career in police radio dispatching.

"Those calls are routed through our dispatch communication center here. And dispatcher play a vital role in the connection between the public and our officers on the ground," said Major Sean Naito.

The position pays $2,700 a month.
