LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

People flying into Las Vegas on Friday experienced delays of up to three hours because of weather, according to the Federal Aviation Administration's flight delay website.

McCarran International Airport officials said incoming flight delays also caused outgoing flight delays.

"Unfortunately, that means that not only are people incoming not getting here on time, but that means people waiting to depart on those planes that should be arriving on schedule will not be leaving here on time," said McCarran Spokesperson, Christine Crews.

Around 4 p.m., hundreds of people waited in baggage claim who had likely waited two or more hours to arrive in Las Vegas.

"We were scheduled to be out of Fargo a couple of hours earlier and we were just told that due to some flow issues down here in Las Vegas we had to wait a couple hours before we left Fargo," Tori Hart from Fargo, ND said.

Toni Waldman-Filippin's plans also were postponed after she drove in from Arizona waiting to pick up family for her father's birthday.

"My dad is turning 75 and we're all going to be here to celebrate," Waldman-Filippin said.

She was waiting on family from Milwaukee, Detroit, North Carolina and Atlanta. The only location with weather problems, she said, was in Las Vegas.

"Weather in Vegas. Only in Vegas. It's perfect in Atlanta, perfect in Detroit, perfect in Milwaukee," Waldman-Filippin said.

Russell Brown, however, had the biggest delay when he arrived to the airport and discovered his Southwest flight back to Los Angeles was canceled.

"I've been here for three or four days, so I was looking forward to going home tonight," Brown said.

Brown was stuck searching for hotel rooms to stay another night, which he says he'll have to pay for out of pocket.

"Basically, they told me there was nothing they could do because of the weather," Brown said. "They apologized, but they're going to book me out for tomorrow so I have to stay tonight and find my own accommodations."

McCarran officials say there were an estimated 41.6 million visitors that came through the airport in 2012. On a daily average, Crews says this is about 114,000 people that fly through McCarran.

With the flight delays on a Friday, she says this is always a hindrance as it's typically one of the busiest travel days of the week.

"We have our peak days of Friday, Sunday and Monday," Crews said. "Almost any Friday in Las Vegas is a busy time at McCarran."
