HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Former world kickboxing champion Dennis Alexio is in jail on federal charges.
His wife, Anitalei Alexio was also arrested Thursday, but only Hawaii News Now was there as she was released on a $25,000 bail.
Anitalei and her lawyer did not want to comment as they left the federal courthouse.
Dennis was not allowed to have his bail hearing Thursday, something he was not happy about. He stood up and repeatedly asked the judge why he would not being allowed to go home.
"I'm not a flight risk, I'm not a risk to the public," Alexio said.
His hearing is scheduled for Monday.
The Alexios' Aiea home was also searched. Investigators with the IRS seized boxes and plastic bags of evidence.
Anitalei's mother, Anita Davelos, watched as the items were taken. She was not happy to find out that Dennis was not coming home. She said he helps with their six grandchildren. Taking them and picking them up from school and shuttling them to activities everyday.
"I have a hard time if Dennis is not here," says Davelos.
The federal indictment lists more than 40 counts, including tax fraud and money laundering.
The Alexios pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
