Flood watch cancelled as system dissipates

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has cancelled the flash flood watch that was posted for Kauai, Niihau and Oahu as the system responsible for the threat departed to the north.

Forecasters had monitored an area of heavy rain and thunderstorms in the channel between Kauai and Oahu and a smaller area off Leeward Oahu, but those areas dissipated rapidly as an upper trough moved northward and allowed weather conditions to stabilize.

Winds will remain light, but turn more northerly Friday before trade winds return over the weekend.
