HILO, Hawaii (AP) - Big Island police say a 32-year-old Kealakekua man has been charged with a burglary last month in Holualoa.

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports Mathew Robert Kaleo Malapit was charged with the theft of jewelry Oct. 28.

Police detectives say jewelry from three victims in the theft was spotted and recovered at a secondhand shop in Captain Cook.

They found jewelry from two more burglaries in Holualoa. The burglaries were reported Sept. 1 and Oct. 7.

The store reported buying the jewelry from Malapit.

He was arrested Thursday and charged with burglary and theft counts.

His bail was set at $15,000.
